Katy is a Provisional Psychologist with a degree in Psychology from Cardiff University, UK.
Field of Work and Experience
Katy has worked in the Out of Home Care industry since 2014 as a Case Worker, Case Manager and Therapeutic Specialist, and has experience working with children, adolescents, and their families with a variety of mental health, behavioural and educational challenges. Katy is a certified Therapeutic Crisis Intervention trainer and is passionate about supporting children and adolescents who have experienced early childhood trauma and attachment difficulties; and supporting their families and/or caregivers to provide trauma-informed care to enable the young person to thrive and live their best life. Katy is registered with the NDIS as a Behaviour Support Practitioner.
Katy strives to create a therapeutic environment that is person-centred, using evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) in a safe and collaborative manner. Katy works from a strengths-based perspective to achieve shared goals.
Aspirations and Personal Interests
Outside of work, Katy enjoys spending time with her husband and two young children, and enjoys participating in a range of sports including surf life-saving and soccer.
