Qualifications
Nekia completed her Bachelor of Psychology in 2009 and post graduate certificate in Applied Behaviour Analysis in 2012. Nekia is Board Certified Assistant Behaviour Analyst (BCaBA) and a registered Psychology supervisor for the 5+1 Pathway. Nekia is also a NDIS Practitioner at the Specialist level.
Field of Work and Experience
Nekia has worked within the out-of-home care sector supporting children and adolescents with complex trauma and challenging behaviour since 2008.
Nekia has a strong interest in working with young children and adolescents alongside supporting their families in areas of trauma, anxiety and depression, anger management, developmental disabilities and ADHD.
Nekia utilises a person-centred approach with a combination of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Dialectal Behaviour Therapy, EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing Therapy), and Applied Behaviour Analysis.
Nekia has extensive experience in comprehensive assessments in the area of Cognition, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Learning Disabilities, ADHD, Developmental Disabilities and Differential Diagnosis.
Nekia is also a registered clinician of the Griffiths Scale of Child Development.
Aspirations and Personal Interests
Nekia enjoys a good book or TV show, learning to play the piano and spending time with her three young children, her husband and her dog, Scout.
