Behaviour Support
At TracksHealth, we acknowledge every child has unique needs and tailor our care accordingly. We work closely with carers to develop individualised treatment plans based on their children’s distinctive learning style across multiple settings including in clinic, at school and home.
TracksHealth behaviour specialists and Psychologists incorporate a positive behaviour support framework through a relational lens to work with children, adolescents and their families. Client centred goals are developed to achieve individualised outcomes. These goals may be within the areas of behaviour, cognition, social skills, play and leisure skills and other important life skills.
Our Behaviour Support Services include:
Verbal Behaviour Milestones Assessment and Placement Program (VB-MAPP)
Verbal Behaviour Milestones Assessment and Placement Program (VB-MAPP) is a five-component program designed to measure verbal behaviour, guide individualised instruction needed to address deficits in verbal behaviour, and evaluate progress over the course of the treatment program.
VB-MAPP provides an indication of the level of language and social skills a child with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) or a delay in their development.
VB-MAPP assesses learning styles which indicates appropriate curriculum and tracks progress throughout their learning. These language and social skills levels are evaluated using 170 of the pivotal milestones in early childhood development. VB-MAPP shows both functioning behaviours and language areas that may be causing issues in a child's ability to learn.
Assessment of Functional Living Skills (AFLS)
Assessment of Functional Living Skills (AFLS) determines a learner's current level of skill repertoire and tracks and measures progress throughout a child's lifespan.
AFLS is used for teaching children and adolescents with developmental disabilities essential skills to achieve optimum independent outcomes.
AFLS is the most versatile assessment system available and offers learners a pathway to independence by guiding programming that focuses on functional living skills such as chores, compliance, following routines and participation in social scenarios.
AFLS contains six different assessment protocols that assess functional, practical and essential skills of everyday life.
Beyond this assessment AFLS helps to track, and progress monitoring solutions that allow assessed skills to be tracked for progress over many years.
Social Skills Assessments
Social Skills Assessments address the need for evaluating the complex social profiles of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder or related disorders. This assessment identified the strengths and challenges a child may be experiencing in different social settings and provides recommendations for intervention through individualised targets and client specific strategies.
It assesses knowledge in the following areas:
- Cognitive - A child's ability to understand other perspectives
- Behaviour - A child's ability to initiate and maintain interactions
- Affective - A child's ability to understand basic and complex emotions
Functional Analysis (FA) & Structured Descriptive Assessments (SDA)
The FA and SDA assessments are beneficial in identifying the purpose behind a child's presenting concerning behaviours. Identifying function is an essential component of any effective behaviour intervention.
Tracks Health specialists can provide:
- FA - Functional Analysis
- SDA - Structured Descriptive Assessment (held at our clinic or other environments of concern)
A report will be presented after the completion of the assessment outlining the results, hypothesised function, and in-depth recommendations for any future behaviour intervention program.
Toilet Training
TracksHealth has an intensive toilet training program that focuses on the child achieving independence in toileting skills.
A TracksHealth specialist will spend the first 3-4 days of the program with you and your child to provide direct support and training.
Tolerance Training
Tolerance training is a behavioural skill-based program that teaches your child the ability to participate in various social situations whilst tolerating the presence of various day to day demands.
Tolerance training is completed through a series of systematic and structured practices that focus on increasing flexibility, decreasing challenging behaviour and using appropriate means of communication.
Social Skills Training
While every child with developmental disabilities may not experience the same challenges in social situations, most children with autism benefit from additional support with social skills.
Through the use of evidence-based practices, our Tracks Health specialists can provide one-to-one or social skills group therapy. In one-to-one therapy, emphasis will be given to specific skill development. In group therapy similar age and ability peers can be brought together to build the foundation of essential social skills such as conversational skills, turn-taking, play skills and listener responding skills.
A combination of one-on-one or group therapy may fit with your child's particular needs. Tracks Health can provide flexible delivery and each child will be supported throughout their social skills journey by our highly trained and experienced clinicians.
Daily Living Training
Daily living skills are vital for young adults preparing for independent living. Self-sufficient tasks are essential in developing independent living in the home, school and community.
Daily Living Skills Training may be targeted towards:
Hygiene Skills - toilet hygiene and personal hygiene (bathing, grooming, and dressing)
Home Skills - meal preparation, eating, housekeeping skills, cleaning, laundry
Personal Skills - time management, leisure time, sleep hygiene, safety skills
Community Skills - shopping, money management, transportation skills
Programs targeted at increasing an individual's daily living skills may be appropriate where an identified skill deficit is impacting on further increasing an individual's independence in a specific area.
Our TracksHealth specialist will initiate a session in our clinic and then facilitate generalisation through sessions at home and in the community.
